Gathering Information About What We Know…

We have begun our new Inquiry, ‘Water, More Precious Than Gold?’  We aim to improve our understanding around water cycle, the process water goes through, social justice issues around water access and quality and water uses.  We will also engage in experiments based on water which look very exciting!  The 1/2s have identified what they already know about water and highlighted questions that want to find out about water.  Some of these questions are; where does water come from, how does water go through the pipes, who made water, how old is water, how much water do we have, can you make water, does water come from the clouds and how does water get into the ocean?

Our Time Capsule

On Tuesday the 24th of June, the grade 1-2 students chose a wide variety
of items to place in our time capsule to be opened in 2039. Loom bands,
footy cards, lego, newspapers, photos, angry birds and many other items
were all excitedly crammed in. The students also wrote some questions for
children of the future, wrote all about their lives today and made
predictions of what our school might be like in 25 years.

Isabella wanted to know:
“What kind of cars do you have know? What kind of phone do you have now?
What do you do when you are naughty?”
Mikayla predicted:
“I think you will have a table as small as a mouse and when you press a
button it will pop up. I think you will have a crocodile as a pet. I think
you will have a robot that you can tell what to do”.
Jackson predicted:
“I think there will be a flying car. The car will be able to go anywhere
you want it to go and it has guns and you will be able to sleep in it. You
will be able to lie back and it will be comfy”.

Thank you to all parents for supporting your children to gather items for
the time capsule. A HUGE thank you to Clem Lee who very kindly constructed
and donated our wonderful time capsule. The crazy weather did not allow us
to bury the time capsule on Tuesday, however we will be burying it on
Monday the 14th of July during our whole school assembly.

1/2s chip flavouring day 27.5.14

On Tuesday the 27th of May, Mr Matthews came to the 1/2s to show us how to follow a procedure on how to flavour chips.

Some students vigoursly mixing the ingredients to make the flavouring for our chips.

We were furiously shaking the bag to spread the mixture over the chips.

They were yummy!
